What you can achieve with the optional Companion App
The Companion App is an optional software enhancement (it is not the default setup, and software-based automation is not guaranteed). When deployed, it adds:
- Automatic mode switching: switches between MTR and BYOM based on detected call status.
- Touch-panel controls: provides a curated secondary UI for room control and manual source switching.
- Faster user adoption: reduces manual steps and speeds up room start-up.
- Call protection: built-in logic prevents switching USB peripherals away from the MTR during an active call.
Recommended deployment: The GPIO button as the standard, deterministic control method, with the Companion App added as an optional convenience layer where automated switching is desired.
